Pepperdine Libraries Special Collections and Archive is creating a community archive collection to document and preserve the shared experience of the Franklin (2024) and Pacific Palisades Fires (2025).
These events represent a crucial moment in our community’s history, and your personal recollections and materials are pieces of this historical record. We are collecting a wide range of materials to ensure future generations can understand the scope and details of this experience, from every perspective.
We invite all community members to share their:
- Photographs & Video: your images of the fire, smoke, damage, recovery, or community support efforts.
- Social Media Posts: screenshots or text of your posts, reflections, or discussions shared on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or X (formerly Twitter) related to the fires.
- Personal Stories & Statement: written accounts detailing your experience.
By contributing to this archive, you are helping to preserve our collective memory and ensuring this chapter of our history is documented for research, education, and community reflection now and into the future.
Your contribution is voluntary, and you retain copyright of your materials. Thank you for helping us capture this crucial history.
If you plan to attend the event, ask for a visitor parking pass at the gate, and park in designated visitor parking areas (see campus map here). We recommend parking along Seaver Drive or Banowsky Blvd. Please feel free to ask at the gate if you need directions to appropriate parking.

For those who want to contribute in a supportive environment, the library will be hosting an event on February 4, 2026 (see attached flyer), where we invite you to spend some time gathering your materials and writing down your memories to include in the collection. There will be snacks, crafts, and counselors on hand for support. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for oral history interviews.
