PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Commissioner Lara convened a Smoke Claims and Remediation Task Force to evaluate the science, claims practices and public health questions around wildfire smoke damage, after tens of thousands of smoke claims from the January fires exposed the absence of any statewide standard.
Members met monthly with a mandate to deliver recommendations by early 2026, which became the basis for AB 1795.
