PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Los Angeles County Public Health released final findings from its post-fire soil testing, showing Altadena had a markedly higher share of samples above healthy lead thresholds than the Palisades.

Of samples taken on cleared Eaton-area lots, 20% exceeded 80 parts per million, and preliminary results had found elevated lead in as many as 80% of samples downwind of the Eaton scar. Officials attributed the lead to pre-1979 lead paint in Altadena's older housing stock.
