PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — EPA completed Phase 1 household hazardous materials removal in 28 days, clearing 9,201 buildings — 4,852 in the Eaton footprint and 4,349 in the Palisades — and hauling away about 300 tons of propane tanks, lithium-ion batteries, pesticides and similar waste using 1,700 workers.
Roughly 4,400 additional structures were deferred to the Army Corps for further work. Phase 1 completion is the gate that had to clear before Phase 2 debris removal could begin on a lot.
