Marquez Charter Elementary becomes the first destroyed school to return

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Marquez Charter Elementary reopened on its own Palisades grounds in temporary modular buildings on September 30, 2025 — the first public school destroyed by the January fires to bring students back to its own campus.

The temporary facility includes 19 classrooms plus a kitchen, library and play areas. Enrollment had fallen from about 310 to 130 students since the fire.
