Newsom asks FEMA to extend disaster housing assistance

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The Governor formally requested that FEMA extend disaster housing funding for Los Angeles fire survivors, citing continuing insurance disputes, housing constraints and labor shortages.

The request also highlighted a bottleneck in Public Assistance: only about $37 million had been obligated of more than $732 million approved at the regional level and awaiting federal sign-off.
