PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The Palisades fire started the morning of January 7, 2025 and the Eaton fire ignited the same evening above Altadena.
Together they killed 31 people, destroyed or damaged more than 16,000 structures and displaced thousands of Los Angeles County residents. Every recovery deadline that follows — insurance, FEMA, government claims, property tax — counts from this date, so treat January 7 as the clock-start for all filings.
