PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The President approved California's request for a major disaster declaration one day after the fires began, opening FEMA Individual Assistance, SBA disaster loans and Public Assistance for Los Angeles County.

It also authorized a 100% federal cost share for fire management and debris removal for 180 days, up from the usual 75%. This declaration is the legal basis for the FEMA application survivors filed and for the free government debris removal program.
