PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The California Department of Insurance published the Smoke Claims and Remediation Task Force report on March 9, 2026, setting out recommendations on the science of smoke contamination, claims handling practices and remediation standards.
Policyholders with disputed smoke claims can cite the report's findings on appropriate testing and remediation when negotiating with adjusters.
