PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — LADWP announced it would move 100% of Pacific Palisades electrical distribution underground — roughly 4,000 spans in an area entirely within a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, where about 48% of lines were already buried.

CEO Janisse Quiñones estimated costs of $1 million to $14 million per mile, with the eventual program budgeted near $650 million. Rebuilding homeowners need to coordinate service connections with the undergrounding schedule for their street.
