Newsom signs $2.5 billion state wildfire relief package

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — The Legislature approved and the Governor signed a $2.5 billion package in a special session covering evacuations, sheltering survivors and hazardous waste removal, plus $4 million for local governments to streamline rebuilding approvals and $1 million for school district facility rebuilding.

The money funded the state side of the debris removal program that survivors opted into.
